Ribbon cutting and P-Patch party set for Saturday

EVERETT – The newly renovated 1-acre Bayside Park will host a grand reopening on Saturday, June 21, from 2-4 p.m.

Join the Bayside Neighborhood Association, Mayor Ray Stephanson and Everett Parks staff for a ribbon-cutting ceremony, music, kids’ activities and a seed exchange at the park, located at 2200 Grand Avenue. Neighbors are also celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Bayside P-Patch, the oldest community garden operating in Everett.

“The new and improved Bayside Park is the result of more than a decade of hard work and collaboration between the neighborhood and our parks staff,” said Paul Kaftanski, parks director. “We’re excited to share this beautiful park with the greater community.”

Upgrades to the park include improved access for disabled visitors and disabled parking at the northern entrance to the park off 21st Street. The park features seating and viewing areas, along with new walkways, a chess table and refurbished landscaping.

The park links to the Bayside P-Patch, making it one of the larger public open spaces in the neighborhood. The garden provides recreation and fresh food to gardeners, who also donate hundreds of pounds of fresh produce to Volunteers of America food bank each year.

Benches donated to park
Two new benches have been installed at the park. Aileen Langhans, a longtime Everett resident and active Bayside neighbor, donated funds for a bench that has been installed at the northern end of the park.

A second bench has been donated in memory of Jenny McCollum, a Bayside resident and business owner who loved to walk in the neighborhood. The bench, donated by her son Kevin, will be installed in the P-Patch.
